Information on how old you need to be to live in student acommodation.

In most cases you will need to be 18 when you move into your student accommodation. It is important to understand that there are age restrictions on some student accommodation options.

Houses, flats and Apartments 

In most cases you will not be able to move into a house share, flat or apartment until you are 18. This is because in the UK you have to be 18 or older to enter into a legally binding contract and that is what a tenancy agreement is.

Private Halls of Residence 

You will not be able to move into a Private Hall until you are 18 at minimum.

University Halls of Residence

Some university owned halls of residence may allow under 18's to live in them. To understand if your University Halls allow this, you will need to contact your University accommodation office directly.
