How can I book short-term accommodation?
Find out how to search for short term accommodation on Accommodation for Students.
What is short-term accommodation?
Short-term accommodation is accommodation that is available for shorter periods of time. The standard student accommodation contract will be between 44 weeks and 51 weeks. Most contracts start in July/August and run to either May/June or August.
Short-term contracts
These contracts run outside the standard tenancy and might be for a semester (term) or over the summer (for example, July/August).
What type of accommodation offers short-term contracts
This will depend on availability. Most student accommodation owners will want students to have a longer contract. However, if rooms are available in a property, they may be available on a shorter term contract.
Halls of residence are more likely to have short term contracts available, so it is a good idea to start your search with those properties.
How to search for short-term accommodation
First, navigate to the city you want to find the short-term accommodation. In this example we are looking for accommodation in London.
Then select the move in filter on the search bar. Then select the month and year you want to move in and select apply.

Next, select the filter option in the search bar and select the length of stay you want and select apply

This will then bring back the results based on your requirements. The results will show all the available properties offering short-term lets in the city you are looking for a place to live in. You can select the property that most closely matches your requirements. The example below shows the accommodation currently available on a short-term basis in London.

If the search does not bring back any results it means there are not currently any properties offering short-term lets for the dates you are looking for. You should consider being more flexible with the dates to increase your chances of finding a matching property.
