What should I do if the accommodation is sold out?

Find out what to do if the accommodation you are interested in is not available

If the accommodation you are interested in is sold out you have two options.

Waiting list

Some student accommodation managers will have waiting lists for sold out properties. You can request to be added to the list and you will be contacted if a room becomes available.

Waiting lists are particularly common for halls of residence because students who have booked rooms will regularly cancel before the move in day. Most halls of residence will allow students to cancel if they don't get the grades they were expecting and no longer need the room.

In these cases students who are on the waiting list are given the opportunity to take the room.

Seek alternative accommodation

If the accommodation you prefer is sold out we would recommend searching for alternative accommodation even if you have been added to a waiting list.

This will ensure that you at least have somewhere to live. It is also important to be aware that it can be difficult to find accommodation at certain time of year.  For example, in mid-late August the majority of student accommodation has already been booked.

If you are searching for student accommodation during you should consider alternative accommodation options if your first choice is not available.
